Alien Contact, Why We Are Not Ready.

Whether or not you believe in aliens, ufos or life on other planets, it does not matter.
Just about every person has asked at some time or another in their life, if aliens are real then why haven't they contacted us? I've heard this question a dozen or more times, I've asked myself the same question in moments of doubt in regards to the possibility of intelligent life existing on other planets. It's not an unreasonable question. It's also one worth contemplating various theories for. My theory is, why would aliens want to contact us? It's kind of like this, if a new family moves into your neighborhood you might get the idea to go over to their house and introduce yourself. If however upon your arrival you should discover there is evidence of domestic violence and / or drug abuse taking place in said home, you'll probably quickly turn around and walk away hoping no one saw you stopping by. We as a race in general do not like ourselves or eachother. The proof is in the endless violence and killing, we hunt animals to extinction, we pollute our environment, we continuously find reasons to fight. After all our evolution and supposed advances in science and technology we fail to find a method for establishing peace, our leaders spend billions of dollars each year developing bigger, better newer and more creative methods of fighting wars. Is it possible we could perhaps instead spend all that money trying to find methods of creating peace and harmony? Nope. I know it's an dumb question. Aliens probably wouldn't like us, we probably wouldn't like them either.

Top-level comments on this article: (8 total)Interesting and entertaining too. I don't think aliens would like us, besides we hardly like ourselves and each other it seems. But I believe we are moving towards enlightenment. Then maybe we'll be more attractive universally (lol).
hi steven, this was a well written, interesting piece. maybe we are getting closer to becoming more inviting to our alien guests-there seem to be more reports from the government and the vatican on ufo sightings, as if they had the right to keep them from us from the beginning. i think our whole populations' attitude could use a little adjusting, not just for aliens, but for ourselves as well. thanks for sharing, and keep writing, best regards, sue thom
Great points! Thanks for sharing.

I REALLY ENJOYED YOUR ARTICLE...VERY INFORMING
Fantastic article, Steven. I had never really thought about all this from your point of view, but I can certainly relate to it. If I were an alien, this would be the last stop on my list of vacation possibilities; no doubt about it! You are definitely right---we have a lot of work to do before any other beings would be interested in trying to co-exist with the earth as it is today. SandraI think our earth is beautiful, and I think there are a lot of beautiful people, sadly it is those in power, those that are corrupt and war mongering, are the ones that continue to instigate the fighting. At the same time I see so much room for improvement in our world, I always hope that there would be peace in our future, too bad our history is drenched in bloodshed.
This was a really interesting take! I agree with your views. Not sure how I feel about if aliens exist, but if they did-I could see what you mean. Thanks for making me think!Thank you for your comment and support, I'm kind of agnostic on the whole subject myself, but I have this theory...If it is impossible, improbable or unlikely that there is any intelligent life on any other planet in our universe, than it is also unlikely, improbable and impossible for there to be any intelligent life on this planet. Just a thought.
Perhaps Steve, if were were attacked by aliens, then we probably would finally unite as a world people to fight off an attack.Thanks. Reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode...the aliens came down to earth and told the worlds leaders how angry they were with us because of all the wars. So all the worlds leaders got together and worked out there differences, we finally had peace. The aliens came back to check on us and once again told the world leaders how upset they were with us because of all the wars. They explained that they were upset that there was not one nation strong enough to have wiped out all the others and that they were looking to allie with a very powerful race of people. They decided we were too passive and destroyed the earth. Serlings end comment was that no matter how hard a nation fights for peace, another will come along to take it all away.
